Rookie internet pro Galen Hall, took down one of the most prestigious poker tournaments in the world this week
, the PCA $10,000 main event. Thousands of the worlds biggest online and live poker pros flock to the caribbean each year to participate in the tournament, often regarded as the toughest live tournament around.
Hall faced a mammoth task when he reached heads up against Chris Oliver who started the day with 42% of the total chips in play with 10 players remaining. Oliver held a near 3:1 chip lead over Hall, but little by little, began to bleed chips as Hall began to take a stranglehold on the event. The final hand just proved it was not meant to be for Oliver, as he got his money in good pre flop with QQ vs Hall’s A8 only for an Ace to flop sending Oliver to the rail and making Hall a millionaire collecting a cool $2.3 million for his troubles.
Hall who made $200k grinding online in 2010, was said be ‘delighted’ with the win, but still remained firmly grounded as he said his plans to head back to college in the summer still remained.
