January 1st has come and gone and the English transfer window is now open, for one month at least. In previous years January has brought a flurry of activity but gone seem to be the days of those big money transfers are clubs look to rein in those big wage bills, coupled with the recession means there is just less money being floated about.
It appears however, that this one could be different. Tottenham Hotspur look to be getting rid of their large suqad by off loading a few players that are out of favour. Birmingham city look set to table a £7 million deal for Robbie Keane who will likely be keen on a move away from White Hart Lane due being down in Harry Redknapps pecking order.
Newcastle united have been linked with another one of Spurs’ attacking players in the form of David Bentley. Bentley, who is still Tottenham’s record transfer at £16 million, is another who is out of favour at the lane and would see a move to the North-east as a career reviving move.
As ever its Man City that are looking to once again splash the cash in the form of Bosnian International Edin Dzeko for a reported fee of £27 million.
