England Win, Again!

England carried on their rich vein of form in Australia to beat the host by just 1 wicket in the first of two T20s before taking on a 7 game ODI series against their fierce rivals.

Paul Collingwood’s men was to see yet another hero be crowned in the English batting ranks as debutant Chris Woakes manged to stumble England over the line with 19 from 15 balls batting 9.

Australia got off to a flying start after wining the toss and seeing themselves sat predominantly at 83-0 before Shane Watson (59) and Dave Warner (30) were both removed by Michael Yardy (2-28) in quick succession. Cameos from David Hussey (28), Finch and Steve Smith (both 15*) saw Australia post a score of 157 which many thought was around par on that pitch.

England never really got any major partnerships going and kept loosing wickets at vital times to make what could and probably should of been a straight forward victory, into somewhat of a struggle. Eoign Morgan was once again the shining light in the English batting lineup with a sparking 43 from 33 balls to add some backbone to the innings. Cameos from Pietersen (25), Bell (27) before finally Woakes seeing England over the line with a gutsy 19 not out.

This is Englands eighth win in a row in T20′s and is a new record. Can anybody stop them?
